A Traditional and Contemporary Garden

Japanese Mape (Acer palmatum) and urn in a garden blending traditional and contemporary elements

Our brief for this Edwardian cottage was to create a country garden, overlaid with a contemporary style, that suited the architecture of the house while integrating a new orangery and an existing brick pizza oven into the overall design.

Designed to look timeless within its surroundings, we used the pizza oven to provide a focal point for a generous dining area, while the rest of the garden centres around a large terracotta water feature. Wildlife-friendly planting was chosen to create a peaceful and colourful sanctuary which is a magnet for butterflies and bees.

This Yorkshire garden design is nestled within the beautiful East Yorkshire countryside.
